The Space Problem
I’m a fan of time travel movies, but one problem never addressed by time travel stories is the space problem.
As described here,
- The surface of the earth at the equator moves at roughly 1,000 miles per hour.
- The earth moves around the sun at about 67,000 miles per hour.
- The solar system moves around the center of our galaxy at about 490,000 miles per hour.
- The galaxies in our neighborhood are also rushing at a speed of nearly 1,000 kilometers per second towards a structure called the Great Attractor.
Something to think about when you step into that time machine. You’ll most likely find yourself in deep space.
